Summer postcards

Summer moves on and the dahlias are in bloom. We have been enjoying the garden, the carnival and the beach. Spending another blessed week with friends, as the season begins to slowly wind down. Holding on to these special days.

  1. That dahlia is magnificent! We are winding down here too. It's hard to believe that there are just two weeks left of holidays. Helen x

  3. Such beautiful photos! I'm treasuring summer too. It makes me wonder why the heck I live somewhere where there is six months of winter.

    Wishing you a lovely day.

  4. Thank you for the photo of the carnival, I do love the bagpipes! Summer seems to be winding down now and the plants are just about exhausted but I'm looking forward to the various colours of autumn. xx

  6. Lucky you with your dahlias! I adore them but mine are not doing well and I am not sure they will bloom. I am going to replace the bulbs next year. I think they used up so much energy the first year that it wore them out. Do you buy new bulbs each year or overwinter yours?

We had the Highland games in the north of Holland but missed them. I hope to see them one year since they are in the village where we have our cottage up there. I love hearing bagpipes and remember going to the games where my cousins competed.

    Hugs from Holland ~

    1. Hi - this is the first year I have had them here. I used to overwinter in the ground, but I think I will lift them and store undercover, as th ground can get waterlogged here xx

  7. You are right, the summer is winding down. It just occurred to me today when I was pulling out broad beans and cutting down old tayberry canes. The season is moving on. I'm not really ready to let go yet though. Great photos, I particularly love the last one.
